Shocking, Malware ATM Breaker For Sale Free at DarkNet

Zatinet - The ATM machine is again the target of cyber crime. How not, recently Kaspersky Lab security experts found malware ATM breakers are sold freely on the black market DarkNet.

The malware is referred to as Cutlet Maker. This malware allows an ATM machine to spit money if an attacker gets physical access to an ATM machine.

Malware is sold freely at a price of US $ 5,000 or approximately USD 67.5 million complete with a guide use. These findings indicate that ATM burglary efforts increasingly sophisticated as the development of technology.

Previously they did physically but now the criminals use malware for cyber criminals who do not really understand the computer. Earlier this year, Kaspersky Lab partners discovered a dangerous sample that allegedly infected a computer inside an ATM.

Once traced further, this malware is traded freely in the popular DarkNet forum, AlphaBay. Later, it was revealed that this malware is a complete package of commercial malware-kits made for ATM to spew money.

Based on research, this malware toolkit consists of three elements, including Cutlet Maker software which is the main module to communicate with ATM dispenser. Next is the Codecalc program designed to generate a password in order to run Cutlet Maker application.

Last is the Stimulator Application, aiming to save the time of cyber criminals by identifying the status of the ATM cassette. Through this application, cyber criminals will receive information about eye value and the amount of money in each cassette, so they can choose which one is the biggest and potentially to be broken.

Just to note, Cutlet Maker has been traded March 27, 2017, but when security researchers investigate, this malware has been circulating since 2016. Unfortunately security researchers are not yet known who the actors are behind this malware. However, they are probably not native speakers of English because of the many errors in grammar and guidance.

Kaspersky Lab Security Researcher Konstantin Zykov said Cutlet Marker does not require professional computer skills from the perpetrators of criminals who use it. "Anyone who has several thousand dollars can buy this malicious software and this is very dangerous for financial institutions," said Zykov.

Kaspersky Lab also advised financial institutions to perform better security protection with Kaspersky Embedded System Security products.
