China Blocks Internet Connection Apple Watch 3
Zatinet - Internet connection is the most important feature for Apple Watch third generation. Unfortunately, the Chinese government actually decided to block internet connection for the latest Apple smart hours.
As quoted from Business Insider, Saturday (21/10/2017), there is currently no mobile operator that offers internet service for Apple Watch 3. Reported by The Wall Street Journal, China Unicom's government-owned operator initially offered LTE service for the smart watch. However, on September 28, China Unicom discontinued the service.
One of the reasons China Unicom stopped the internet service because Apple uses a new SIM card on Apple Watch called eSIM, which is embedded directly on the device by Apple. Analysts suspect, the termination of this service because of concern China's government related security issues.
ArsTechnica reported, Apple Watch 3 paired with the iPhone to get connected to the internet. While currently not connected to the iPhone, this device uses eSIM to connect with data services. Until now, it is not known until when the internet blocking for Apple Watch will be applied. However, for Apple, China is an important market.
In addition to this blocking, the company previously faced problems related to devices and services in the Bamboo Curtain Country. For example, Apple shut down iBooks and iTunes Movies services in China after being under pressure from the government.
To date, it is unclear what the company will do to calm Apple Watch 3 users' worries over the eSIM issue. Moreover, China is said to have no plans to regulate the use of eSIM.
